Terms of Use

Last updated: July 31, 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using customer.log ("the service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use, our Privacy Policy, and any applicable Data Processing Agreement. If you use the service on behalf of a company, organization, or other legal entity, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that entity. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the service. By using the service you confirm that you meet these requirements and that your use complies with the laws of your jurisdiction.

3. The service

customer.log provides a real-time event logging service: an SDK and API for logging events, a web dashboard, and delivery of events to channels you configure (Slack webhook, email). We may change, add, or discontinue features with reasonable notice where material. You acknowledge that the service processes event data on your behalf and that you remain responsible for the content you log and the lawfulness of your use of it.

4. Accounts and API keys

You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and API keys. API keys grant access to your event data — treat them like secrets and never expose them in client-side or public code unless you intend that data to be public. Notify us immediately at legal@getcustomerlog.com of any suspected unauthorized use of your account or keys.

5. Trials, subscriptions, and billing

New accounts receive 1,500 events free every month at no cost and without a credit card. When you exceed 1,500 events in a calendar month, you pay a flat $1 per 1,000 events logged beyond the free allowance, billed per calendar month. Pricing may change with notice, and changes take effect at the start of your next billing period. You can stop incurring charges at any time by pausing or deleting your project. Fees are non-refundable except as required by law. Late or disputed payments may result in suspension of the service.

6. Your obligations as a user of the SDK

If you install the customer.log SDK on your own website, you are the data controller of the visitor data it processes (including visitor identifiers and IP-derived country information). You must (a) maintain your own Privacy Policy and Terms of Use that disclose your use of tracking technologies, (b) provide a cookie banner or equivalent consent mechanism where required by applicable law (including GDPR and CCPA) before the SDK runs, (c) not log personal data you are not lawfully entitled to process, and (d) ensure your processing instructions to us are lawful.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the service to log or transmit unlawful content; to probe, disrupt, or interfere with our infrastructure or that of other customers; to resell or sublicense the service without written authorization; or to use it for spamming, phishing, or customer-facing messaging without a valid legal basis. We may suspend access for violations with notice where practical. Your event data remains yours, and you retain all rights in it.

8. AI processing

Where AI features are enabled, event data may be processed by Google's Gemini API to generate summaries and digests. We do not use your data to train external models, and AI features can be disabled at any time. You are responsible for ensuring the data you log is appropriate to send to AI processors.

9. Intellectual property

The service, including its software, SDKs, design, documentation, and trademarks, is owned by customer.log. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service and SDKs for your internal business operations during your subscription. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works of the SDK except as permitted by law.

10. Third-party services

The service integrates with third-party providers (e.g., Slack, email providers, AI providers, authentication providers, hosting providers). We are not responsible for the availability, security, or behavior of those services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms and policies.

11. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that it will meet your requirements. To the extent permitted by law, all implied warranties are disclaimed.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, customer.log and its affiliates, officers, and employees shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business interruption, arising out of or relating to the service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability for all claims shall not exceed the greater of one hundred dollars (US $100) or the amounts paid by you to us in the twelve months preceding the claim. Certain jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless customer.log and its affiliates, officers, and employees from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to (a) your use of the service, (b) your event data and the visitor data processed through the SDK on your website, (c) your breach of these Terms, or (d) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.

14. Termination

You may delete your account at any time, and your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these Terms, with notice where practical. Sections that by their nature survive termination (including liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to customer.log's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. We will attempt to resolve disputes through good-faith negotiation before formal proceedings. Subject to that, any dispute arising from these Terms will be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the service or the law evolves. Material changes will be announced via the changelog and, where required, by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
